You may notice a few blurry pictures, this was an artistic expression of usually how intoxicated Walt
and I were during the taking of the picture, not a failure on my part to hold the camera steady. To add
to it, the camera is relatively new so not all the pics are that great... I'm still learning.
Oktberfest! - Oct. 1st
Oh my God did we leave that place crippled. A word to the wise, get reservations for a tent
early, cause its damn hard to get in. The only reason we got in is beacause a fight broke
out and security had to go deal with that. However, through and through, best party evar.
We had met some crazy Germans on subway over, so just
hung at their table for the night, seeing as they were friendly folk.
Brost!
Walt destroying his very tasty chicken
I'm pretty sure I was standing on the table when I took this

A few liters of beer later and still kicking...

Soooo much booze... dare I say too much?
Uhhh, where is our hotel?

Visiting my great uncle in Aadorf, Switzerland - Oct 3rd to Oct. 4th
I have to say my uncle hands down is one of the most interesting people I have ever met. The man
can talk forever, even if I could only understand half of his Swiss German, and was so full of
energy and excitement. He also happens to be the self proclaimed only music drawer in the world. He
actually draws music, all very abstract but interesting none the less. My immediate family also
happened to be visiting at the same time.
Yes! My first R32 spotting as leaving Munich (4 doors, uh-lala)
The quality of the German/Swiss trains is yet to be matched anywhere
Everytime I ever take a picture on a train, another train just happens
to pass at that exact moment, odds of 1 in a 1,000,000

Walt's beard sure is surly
Have you seen this camera case? Last spotted in the swiss alps, still missing.
Ownered would like to have returned since he wasted like $25 on it
A little Aadorf through the curtains photos. That church bell tower chimed
for almost half an hour at 6am = teh suck
Walt's red badge of courage from Munich. We paid the doctor a visit and it
was *only* a ruptured blood vessel, which I guess was harmless. Less than $15 for the visit, and
that was without health insurance, the Swiss rule.
Had to teach my brother how to pose in front of a fine German automobile proper
I guess this guy was a bit hungry
Moo-cows!
On our way out...
Hehe. Not sure why this sign said Schwäbisch "Fat maker"?

Traveling to Interlaken - Oct. 4th
Switzerland is gorgeous, I couldn't put my camera down... I eventually figured out I can
just sit back and take in the views. This is on the way to Interlaken, extreme sports capital
of backpacking. Paragliding, skydiving, bungie jumping, white water rafting, you name it, the got it.
I want one of those in my back yard
There are farms all over the place, kind of interesting that they manage
to survive still without be incorporated... I guess there is something to be said for economy
You can see one of the lakes that Interlaken is between.
I want to climb an Alp

Alpine hiking outside Interlaken - Oct. 5th
I think the pictures speak for themselves. We just started walking using our handy tourist map,
and this is where we ended up.

These falls just came out of nowhere from the top of the cliff, awesome

I can't even begin to imagine how many green thumbs these people have
Those Alps are just a little bit big

crazy falls created by the run off from the mountains

All this was carved by water, I think it'd take me a couple million years too.

I should look way happier in this picture...

A trip to the glacier - Oct. 6th
Definately one of the highlights of the trip... From the vast array of Xtreme adventures
available in Interlaken, we decided to do the least Arizona of them all, which happened to
be glacier trekking and ice climbing. Unfortunately my camera battery died that day, so
I could only photo document part of the day. And to top it off, we even got to see
(thankfully not first hand experience) some avalanches first hand.
We're gonna climb that, good thing the weather is clearing up
Walt brandishing the ice climbing axes of destruction
Those supplied clothes are better than be cold, barely...
You can see the parking lot next to the lake... kinda a long walk straight up
Our guide setting up the climbs as enjoy lunch

And let the climbing begin...

Its amazing how little ice will support a person's weight
Right about here my calves decided they didn't like me standing on my toes, too
bad mister ice cliff wouldn't have it any other way
It gets really hard right about here.
Another of Walt's 7 climbs, I only did like 4

Good bye battery...

Visiting Walt's Family in Florence, Italy - Oct. 7th to Oct. 10th
As we rode the train into Italy, it began to rain and that stayed for quite a while. Finally
we had a clear day and played in the park with Walt's cousins. We also somehow managed to make
our own tortillas... they ended up having the correct texture, but just not quite the right taste...
Welcome to Italy... right after we crossed the border
Crazy Walter zany head! In stores this holiday season!
Christopher likes taking pictures
He also likes using my camera
Scooters pwn the streets
Some train station action in Florence, we were trying to get a couchette
train for our trip to Germany, so we went to get reservations early, apparently not early enough.
We walked by this. Since Walt and I have both already spent significant
time in Florence we choose to hang out with his family most the time, instead of visiting sites.
Walt's uncle, Scott's apartment is in this piazza (not pizza)
Walt, Eduardo and the new cousin Thomas
Walt remarking on how much he wants one of those, or not
A cute lil Lupo, had to get a pic of at least 1

"Mario please give me your new camera and let me take lots of pictures of
the ground"
You spin me right round...
All sorts of laid back
You can guess who got swing pushing duties

That's awfully high if you can imagine my arms all the way up in the air

They're not so light...

Walt and Edo battle out their soccer feud from the last visit
We hang out and watch
The game was quite intense
Christopher got tired of just watching
Tired much? Walt barely managed to squeeze off a victory 15-13 if I remeber correctly
A better view of the park
This thing again...
Walt also needed me to push him in the swing
Thats homemade tira misou, quite possibly the most tasty thing on the face
of the planet
The old factory that Scott's apartment building helps enclose. Back in the
day, people used to work there and live in the surronding apartments.
A fine Mexican meal, Italian stylz

Our tortilla making factory, I rolled all of those out by hand

Venice! - Oct. 10th
What's a trip to Italy without visiting oh so pretty Venice. We managed to cover most of the
city on foot that day. We also picked up some oil paintings, and Walt vowed that we would
master the art of painting on our return.
"I'm gonna take a picture of one of these cool winefields... oops missed"
"Oops, missed it"
"Bingo"
The main canal in Venice
My first gondola pic, not to be the last...
We had lunch in this neat little park
Some people were making out to the right of us here, hard.
So many of the alleys are tiny
My first scenic down a canal pic
There's no ship fiercer on the canals of Venice than the SS Mario. There
was an SS Mario II right down the way also, but it just was hauling trash, how un-befitting of
such a fine named vessel.
Venice is real pretty.
A giant decapitated head, me and some jerk walking in my picture
Piegeons are like rats with wings...
And here people are letting them climb all over them, GROSS!
These are battle gondolas, equipped with giant blades on the front to hunt
down any unsuspecting tourist
Across the way, another island, manmade IIRC
Probably the most scenic view on our entire trip, even if the picture doesnt
reflect it completely
Another of the same

Whos's this guy? Self-portrait

This powedered pepporncini(right) is what we got when we asked from some peppers
for the blandish pizza... though it wasn't quite as far off as the olive oil with peppers in that they
brought out the first time we asked (left)
I'm sad this didnt come out better... awesome night time gondola
Walt doing some writing to friends back home
A train station where the second crappiest train ride in my life began. The
first was also in Italy, coincidence? I think not...
Visting my family in Bayreuth - Oct. 11th to Oct. 13th
We also had to do a little visiting of my family in Bayreuth. We pretty much slept the first
whole day because of our crappy train ride the night before and then went had some very
awesome German cuisine. The next day we did some relax'n, visited some more extended family
at their farm, and then took a walk around Weidenberg.

Coburg Castle/Weimar - Oct. 13th to Oct. 14th
When in Germany, its mandatory to rent a car and cruise the Autobahn. Now when you rent
an Audi A3 online, you except a pretty decide car... we ended up with a Seat Toledo. Crap.
We still made the best of our trip and that poor little car, and made a trip to Weimar to
visit Tom and Ulli. Along the way we made a detour at Coburg castle for some medevil action.
Horsie-dos
I used to live in Bamberg for a few years, we drove right by on the way to Coburg
Walt schooling the Toledo in the ways of the autobahn (in kilometers)
I felt I need a picture of a new Golf, nothing special... except how close
we had to get to actually take the pic.
And we at Veste Coburg we arrive... this also involved a very complicated
drive through Coburg... luckily the signs were very accurate.
Somebody felt it neccessary to bolt a gun on the end of their spear
I think this guy had a few too many cheetos
A very pretty glass chandlier
I found some of the stained glass particularly impressive
Yes, I've been a bad boy
Ummm, being tortured musta really sucked.
Walt is such a dirty hippie.
The predecessor to the potato gun...
A pair of rotating barrel hand guns... those most've been fun to lug around
And the ultimate display of wealth, hand guns fashioned from ivory
Ummm yeah. BFG.
More BFG
A real early model Volkswagen
This guy came with under carriage neon
And back to the Autobahn with us...
I think its absolutely impossible for this car to go any faster...
A picture of tree, not sure why I took it, but a nice tree, don't you think?
The most giant IKEA ever.
Passat V^ TDI 4motion... enough badges on the car, perhaps?
Another Passat with some big ol wheels
OMG, a Golf country... rare birds indeed

Heidelberg and back to Tucson - Oct. 14th to Oct. 15th
Heidelberg was the final leg of the journey. I did a few hours of driving on the way there
also, but Walt was lucky enough to finish the drive. There we met with Walt's friend Jan.
Lukas and Delphine who came from Kaiserslautern to visit Walt. We walked around downtown Heidelberg
for a while, had some superb dinner, and went to a few bars to celebrate before heading home.
We we went to sleep around 3am and left for the airport the next day at 6am. Ouch. Walt
decided to earn a 550 Euro voucher by giving up his seat on the plane, so he came back the next
day, with my luggage also since they took both our bags off the plane. Well, that made customs
easier for me.
An Audi and nuclear power plant
Myself driving very close and rather quick towards oncoming traffic. Seemed
like there wasn't that much construction considering the phenomenal condition the roads were in.
An A8 at the rest stop... these damn things are everywhere.
Holy Toledo! Our poor little rental car
We didn't eat at the Dong Dong, but I thought it worthy of a photo none the
less.
Here we are enjoying some drinks at a small bar/cafe
Bitburger beer, it was actually pretty good considering that all the advertising
we saw for it.
Its gettin a bit late
Morning already... I just wanted to sleep so bad...
Greenland rules!!
What better to come home to than an awesome Arizona sunset?
Well a carne asada burrito, but I had one of those the next night when I
picked Walt up.
